Slurry Pump Principle
Slurry pumps are widely used in many industries because they can convey pumping liquid containing solid particles, as well as corrosive and abrasive slurry. They are more robust than other ordinary centrifugal pumps, because they use sacrificial material to resistent abrasion.
The working principle of the slurry pump is that the slurry enters the pump through the rotating impeller, thereby the medium rotates in the pump body. The slurry is forced to move outward under the action of centrifugal force and move between the blades of the impeller. The pump increases the pressure of the liquid and solid particles by means of centrifugal force and converts the electrical energy into kinetic energy to pump the slurry. In this way, slurry pumps are able to transfer dangerous and lightweight slurries and easy to maintain.
